Full closure of I-610 planned for the weekend


Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, March 3, I-610 will close entirely until Monday, March 6 at 5 a.m.

The entire section of I-610 westbound and I-610 eastbound from the I-10 split (near West End Blvd) to the Gentilly Blvd entrance ramp will be closed while crews perform concrete bridge deck pours of the Wisner Bridge over I-610.

Motorists can use I-10 as a detour in both directions.Eastbound traffic that would normally exit I-610 at West End and Canal Boulevards should take I-10 East to the Metairie Road /City Park Avenue exit. Traffic that would normally exit on I-610 at St. Bernard Avenue should take I-10 East to the N. Claiborne Avenue exit and those that would normally exit at Elysian Fields Avenue or Franklin Avenue should take I-10 east to the Elysian Fields exit. All through traffic will remain on I-10 East.

Westbound traffic that would normally exit on I-610 at Elysian Fields Ave, N. Broad St, or Paris Ave should use the Chef Menteur Hwy or Franklin Ave exits. 

Traffic that would normally exit on I-610 at Canal Blvd should take I-10 West to the Florida Blvd exit or the West End exit. All through traffic will remain on I-10 West.For more information, visit DOTD's website http://wwwsp.dotd.la.gov.
